Common questions

Where is my copy? Open the Photos app and look in Recently Saved. Tap Edit, then Styles, to choose a texture.

Why can't Grain add texture to a photo? Grain works with HEIC photos that include Photographic Styles data, which recent iPhones save. JPEG photos, screenshots and older photos don't have that data.

Why is my Live Photo now a still? In this version, the copy of a Live Photo is saved as a still photo. Your original Live Photo is not changed.

Is my original changed? No. Grain always saves a new copy and never edits or deletes your original.

Grain Privacy Policy

Effective 22 September 2026

Grain: Photo Textures ("Grain") collects no personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it makes no network requests.

Your photos

Grain asks for access to your photo library so it can read the original of each photo you pick and save a new copy that offers texture styles in the Photos app. Your original photo is not changed.

Data stored by the app

The only thing Grain stores is a setting on your iPhone that remembers you have seen the introduction. It never leaves your device and is removed when you delete the app.

Third parties

Grain contains no third-party code, software development kits or services. No data is shared with or sold to anyone.

Children

Grain collects no data from anyone, including children.
